Da Hong Pao is also known as Big Red Robe, and is one of the top ten most famous teas in China. This famous oolong tea is produced in the Wuyishan Mountain range of North Fujian, from the tea cultivar Da Hong Pao. The name comes from a story that the three mother trees of Da Hong Pao were once covered by the red robe taken from a grateful imperial official, who was rescued by the monks who managed the three tea trees. Thus the tea trees got their name Da Hong Pao-Big Red Robe.

Wuyishan as a rocky mountain is an ideal place to produce good quality tea. The rocky growing surroundings give Da Hong Pao oolong tea its rich minerals content that gives the tea its well known taste of Yanyun, a "taste of rich minerals". Da Hong Pao Oolong Tea is made from harvested tea leaves during the beginning of May, and undergoes a controlled charcoal roasting that gives the tea leaves a distinct oily dark color. This is a very special smooth oolong tea with notes of black cherries, citrus and a light floral finish.
