Organic Pre-Qingming Longjing (Dragonwell) Green Tea
Pre-Qingming Long Jing — also known as Dragonwell — is the most prized green tea harvest of the year. Picked before the Qingming Festival (April 5th), these early spring buds are harvested at the peak of tenderness, before the rains of Qingming soften the leaf and dilute the flavor. The result is a green tea with exceptional clarity, a naturally sweet finish, and a complexity that sets it apart from any later-harvest Long Jing.
Our organic Longjing (Dragonwell) comes from a certified organic tea garden in Lin An, Hangzhou, Zhejiang — the heartland of true Dragonwell tea production. The garden has held organic certification since 2005, growing the Jiu Keng Qun Ti Zhong cultivar at 800 meters elevation. The leaves are pan-fired using the traditional Long Jing method: pressed flat in a hot wok by hand, producing the tea's signature sword-shaped leaf and locking in its characteristic roasted-grain aroma.
In the cup, expect a golden-yellow liquor with aromas of fresh green bean and light nuttiness. The flavor opens with bright notes of lemongrass and citrus, giving way to a lingering orchid sweetness. Four infusions from a single measure — this tea rewards patience and a gong fu setup.
